Women's ECAC Champion Named Athlete-of-the-Week |

| BROWN NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that sophomore Shorna Brown, Kingston, NY, Kingston High School, a member of the women's outdoor track & field team has been named the athletic program's Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.
The sophomore jumper won the women's High Jump individual title at the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College in Springfield, MA on Wednesday and Thursday. Brown cleared a height of 5'6 ¾" to win in a jump-off for the Fighting Tigers who finished in a three way tie for 27th place in the 66 team field with a score of 10 points.
The Kingston High School alumnus becomes the first Fighting Tiger women's athlete to win an ECAC individual title in outdoor track & field. She was also captured the ECAC Indoor High Jump Championship this past March making her Cobleskill's first multiple ECAC individual champion in any individual sport. |

| FIGHTING TIGER WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD TIES FOR 27TH AT 2010 ECAC OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

The SUNY Cobleskill women's track & field team posted a score of 10 points to place in a four-way tie for twenty-seventh place in a field of 67 teams at the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College in Springfield, MA on Thursday May 13th and Friday May 14th. The event was the team's last of the 2010 season.
Fighting Tiger sophomore jumper Shorna Brown, Kingston, NY, Kingston High School captured the women's High Jump individual title at the meet by clearing a height of 5'6 ¾" to win the title in a jump-off. Brown becomes the program's first individual women's outdoor ECAC Champion and the first women's track & field athlete to win ECAC indoor and outdoor event championships. The talented jumper also captured the 2010 ECAC Indoor High Jump Championship.
Also competing for Cobleskill at the event were: junior Meghan LaPoint, Schenectady, NY, Colonie High School, who placed eleventh in the 5000 Meters in 18:34.69 and twelfth in the 10,000 Meters in a time of 38:37.37, junior Nichole Soblosky, Schenectady, NY, Colonie High School, who placed fourteenth in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase in 11:35.41, freshman Aubrey Oates, Rochester, NY, East High School, who finished seventeenth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 34'9 ½" and sophomore Abigail Vanderveen, Delanson, NY, Faith Bible Academy, who placed seventeenth in the 400 Meters in 1:00.62.

| FIGHTING TIGER MEN'S TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT 2010 ECAC OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

The SUNY Cobleskill men's track & field team posted a score of two points to place forty-sixth overall in a field of 67 teams at the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College in Springfield, MA on Thursday May 13th and Friday May 14th. The event was the Fighting Tigers last of the 2010 season.
Senior decathlete Kameron Wittmeyer, Yorkshire, NY, Pioneer High School, battled through injury to place eighth in the event with a score of 4459 points. Cobleskill also received a scoring performance from freshman sprinter Shaquel Windley, Bronx, NY, John Bowne High School, who place eighth in the 400 Meters with a time of 49.28 seconds.
Also competing for Cobleskill at the event was junior hurdler Daquan Coleman Schenectady, NY, Schenectady High School, who placed twelfth in the 400 Meter Hurdles in a time of 56.22 seconds and twentieth in the 110 Meter Hurdles in 15.80 seconds. |

Kane Seamon Named Male Athlete-of-the-Year |

| KANE SEAMON NAMED SUNY COBLESKILL'S NEVINS AWARD RECIPIENT

Senior Kane Seamon, Richfield Springs, NY, Richfield Springs High School, has been selected by the SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department as the 2010 Stanley Nevin's Outstanding Male Athlete Award winner for his accomplishments during 2009-10 academic year. Seamon was a four-year member of the Fighting Tiger men's cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field teams and received the honor at the college's 2010 Athletic Awards Convocation.
Among the top distance runners in program history the talented senior led the Cobleskill men to their second consecutive North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Champion in 2009 winning the league's individual championship to earn NEAC Runner-of-the-Year honors and First Team All-NEAC honors. Seamon also became to the college's first All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) honoree after finishing fifteenth in a field of 297 participants at the 2009 ECAC Championships. For his outstanding season the men's team captain was also selected as the men's cross country team's 2009 Most Valuable Runner.
During the indoor track & field season the Richfield Springs, NY native established new program records in: the Mile Run, 4:29.43, the 3000 Meter Run, 9:06.79, and the 5000 Meter Run, 15:39.98. During the outdoor track & field season, Seamon established a new school record in the 5000 Meters at 15:26.90.
Named in honor of former Fighting Tiger Head Lacrosse/Wrestling/Cross Country Coach Stanley Nevins, the award is presented annually to the Cobleskill male athlete whose career has been deemed by the college's athletic staff to be the most outstanding of all male student/athletes in the program.

| BROWN NAMED 2010 SUNY COBLESKILL BENNETT AWARD RECIPIENT

Sophomore Shorna Brown, Kingston, NY, Kingston High School, has been selected by the SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department as the 2010 Fred Bennett Outstanding Female Athlete Award winner for her accomplishments during 2009-10 academic year. Brown is a member of Cobleskill's women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams and received the honor at the college's 2010 Athletic Awards Convocation.
A standout performer for the Fighting Tigers in both women's indoor and outdoor track & field Brown dominated the High Jump during this year becoming the first SUNY Cobleskill female athlete to earn All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) honors after she won the event at the 2010 ECAC Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships in March. Led by her efforts the Cobleskill women placed 26th overall in a field of 72 teams competing at the event.
The Kingston High School alumnus has established new program records in the High Jump indoors at 5'7 ¼" and outdoors at 5'7" this season. She has won the event 12 times in 14 invitational starts this year, indoors and outdoors combined, and has qualified for the 2010 ECAC Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. During the indoor season she held the NCAA Division III's top indoor mark for seven weeks finishing the year ranked number three nationally.
For her accomplishments throughout the season Brown was also named the team's Most Valuable Female Performer for the 2009-10 campaign.
Named after Cobleskill's late long-time Athletic Director/Head Coach Fred Bennett; the award is presented yearly to the female athlete whose season and career have been deemed by the college's athletic staff, to be the most outstanding among female athletes.
